"Second Lady" Tipper Gore visits the Old Port.
text and photo by John Alphonse
Tipper Gore, wife of Vice President Al Gore, pauses during a shopping expedition on Exchange Street in Portland's Old Port. She was visiting Maine for a meeting with her husband's presidential campaign coordinators and decided to break her schedule to enjoy the recent great weather and explore the city. After breakfast at Becky's Diner and a lunch of lobster rolls from the Drydock Restaurant, she and her entourage from Washington, D.C., caught a plane home.
